Printing a document, signing it in pen and scanning it back is slow, and the result is a blurry, oversized file. Signing directly in the PDF takes a minute and keeps the rest of the page crisp.
Adding your signature
- Open Sign PDF and add your document.
- Draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad or finger, or type your name instead.
- Choose the page (the last page by default), the position and the width. Optionally add today's date below the signature.
- Download the signed file.
If you already have a scanned image of your handwritten signature, Add Image can place that picture on the page instead.
Visible signature vs digital signature
Sign PDF places a visible signature on the page, which is what most everyday agreements, forms and letters need. A certificate-based digital signature is different: it cryptographically seals the file and proves it has not been altered since signing. Some regulated workflows require that, and it needs a certificate from a trusted provider.
Lock it in
After signing, Flatten PDF merges the signature and any form entries into the page so they cannot be moved or edited in a typical viewer. If the document is confidential, finish with Protect PDF.
